If when you try to Log in, you are being told that you've entered the wrong User ID or password, and you have checked to make sure it's correct. Than taking the following steps will most likely resolve the problem:

1. If you are using the Jaws screen reader, make sure that forms mode is turned on.

2. If you are using the Window Eyes screen reader make sure that MSAA is turned off.

3. Turn the Internet Explorer autocomplete feature off (see below for details).

4. Set Internet Explorer to check for new versions of stored pages on every visit to the page (see the section on page caching below for details).

5. Make sure that Active Scripting is enabled.

You are now finished and should be able to correctly enter your password. Make sure that you enter it exactly as it appears on your confirmation letter.

Turning Off Autocomplete In Internet Explorer

We have found that the internet explorer autocomplete causes problems for many speech users. If you are using a screen reader we recommend that you turn autocomplete off. Turn autocomplete off by doing the following:

1. From the Internet Explorer main menu choose Tools and then choose Options (press Alt-t followed by o).

2. The options screen is divided into several tabs. Choose the "Content" tab.

3. While in the content screen, press the tab key until you are on the "AutoComplete" button and then press enter.

4. On the resulting screen, make sure the "Forms" and the "User names and passwords on forms" check boxes are unchecked.

5. Tab to "Ok" and press enter.

6. On the next screen, tab to Ok again and press enter.

Page Caching

Depending on your browser's current settings your browser will keep pages you have visited recently on your hard drive. This process is known as caching. In an attempt to save time, pages you revisit may be retrieved from your hard drive rather than downloaded again from the web server. As on other modern sites, many of the web pages served by VIP Conduit are generated by programs running on the server and the resulting web pages you receive may vary depending on circumstance. Therefore you will want to direct your browser to always retrieve new pages from the server rather than simply displaying what was on your hard drive (pages which are cached) the last time you visited that page. To cause Internet Explorer to always retrieve pages from the server rather than using cached pages from your hard drive follow these steps:

1. From the Internet explorer menu bar choose Tools and then choose Options (press Alt-t and then press o).

2. Tab down to the temporary internet files settings button and press enter.

3. At the top of the resulting screen is a group of radio buttons with the heading "Check For Newer Versions Of Stored Pages". Make sure that the "Every Visit To The Page" radio button is highlighted. Then tab down to "OK" and press enter.

4. On the next screen, tab to Ok again and press enter.

Ensuring That Active Scripting Is Enabled

Your browser is capable of interpreting more than just HTML. In fact there are little snippets of code written in programming languages such as JavaScript and VB Script which are embedded in many web pages on the net. Without the ability to understand and interpret these code snippets, these web pages would not work properly or would not work at all. The VIP Conduit web site has many web pages which make use of JavaScript. This means that you must have Active Scripting enabled before you can use our web site properly. Internet Explorer installs with Active Scripting turned on by default, but in the event that you somehow manage to get it turned off, here is how to turn it back on:

1. From the Internet explorer menu bar choose Tools and then choose Options (press Alt-t and then press o).

2. The options screen is divided into several tabs. Choose the "Security" tab.

3. Press tab until you are on the "Custom Level" button and press enter.

4. You will now be on a tree view. You will want to go to the "Active scripting" branch which is well down the tree at the first level. One quick way to get there is to press the letter A several times. If you are using a screen reader you will know when you are at the right place when you hear "Active scripting".

5. Now press the down arrow key twice and you will be on a level 2 branch which will either say "Enable-ON" or "Enable-OFF". If it says "Enable-OFF" then press the space bar to turn Active Scripting on.

6. Tab down to the Ok button and press enter.

7. If you actually made changes in the security settings you will be shown a dialog box which will ask you if you want to make changes to your security settings. If you see this dialog box, choose the Yes button and press enter.

8. on the next screen tab to the Ok button and press enter.
