Setting Your QuickTime Player Preferences

The QuickTime player, like most players, tends to have a tendency to grab all the file types shutting out the other players you may have installed. Here's how to correct that situation. Important note: Not all The menus and labels encountered will read properly with some screen readers. Trial and error may be necessary.

1. Open the player and press alt
2. Right arrow once and then down arrow to open the edit menu
3. Arrow up or down until you locate preference dialog an dpress enter
4. Arrow down once to quick time preferences and press enter
You are now in the register tab.
5. Shift tab until you are at the top of this tab and then right arrow until you locate browser tab
6. Tab down to the mime settings button and press enter.You are presented with several colapsed lists that are opened by pressing right arrow.Press down arrow to access each category and right arrow to open
You will have items with check boxes for selection
7. Once you have made all your changes tab to okay and press enter
8. Tab to apply and press enter, tab to okay and press enter, you are returned to the player interface and can exit from there with alt-f4.
