Apple spam strata

Ingredients:

1 can Spam, flavor of your choice

2 apples, thickly sliced

Slice a solid bread such as hchallah or sour dough into ¾ inch thick slices enough to cover the bottom of your baking dish twice.

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

2 ½ cups of milk.

Cinnamon

Method:

Butter a 8 or 9 inch square baking dish. Set oven to 375f.

Slice a solid bread such as hchallah or sour dough into ¾ inch thick slices enough to cover the bottom of your baking dish twice.
Layer the bottom of the baking dish with bread.

Slice a can of spam, flavor of your choice. Layer spam over bread.

Wash and thickly slice two apples. Layer apples over spam.

Top with remaining bread and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Mix together two eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla and 2 ½ cups of milk. Whisk together then pour over bread layer.

Cover baking dish with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least six hours or overnight.

Bring dish to room temp.

Bake with foil on for 25 minutes.

Remove foil and brush top with melted butter. Return to oven uncovered for an additional 20 minutes.
Serve with syrup if desired.

Kay’s note: You may also put slices of sharp cheddar with the spam and apples.
