Cream Cheese Cookies

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
powdered sugar, optional, to taste, for garnish

Method:

Step 1 - Whisk together the flour, the salt, and the baking powder in a medium bowl.
Step 2 - Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or an electric hand mixer, cream the butter and the cream cheese together.
Step 3 - Add the sugar to the creamed butter mixture and beat until light and fluffy.
Step 4 - Add the egg and the vanilla to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
Step 5 - Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix one more time.
Step 6 - Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix on low speed until just combined.
Step 7 - Using a spatula, give the mixture one last mix.
Step 8 - Cover and chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
Step 9 - Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 10 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 11 - Dampen your hands slightly, as the dough will be sticky.
Step 12 - Portion the dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls.
Step 13 - Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Step 14 - Bake until the edges are set and just turn golden, about 10 minutes.
Step 15 - Serve garnished with the powdered sugar.
