Sloppy Joes With Variations (Crockpot)

Ingredients:

4 lbs. ground chuck
3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 (8 oz.) can water
2 packages sloppy joe seasoning mix
3 cans chicken gumbo soup

Method:

1. Brown ground beef; drain.
2. Add tomato sauce, water, seasoning mix, and soup. Stir to combine.
3. Heat on the stovetop or transfer to a slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 5 hours.

Helpful Hints:

Freezing
This recipe freezes very well. To freeze, transfer cooled sloppy joe mixture to airtight freezer containers. Freeze for up to 6 months. When ready to use, remove from freezer and thaw in the refrigerator.
Reheating
Sloppy Joes are easy to reheat on the stovetop or in the slow cooker. To reheat on the stovetop, transfer them to a saucepan and heat on medium until fully heated through. To reheat in the slow cooker, turn it to either low or high heat (depending on your time frame) and heat accordingly.
Recipe variations
Use ground turkey instead of ground beef
Add chopped onion or celery to the ground beef mixture
Add chopped green pepper
Add 1 can diced tomatoes
Add brown sugar to the sauce for added sweetness
