White Cake

Ingredients:

3 eggs - separated
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2-1/2 cups flour
1 cup milk

Method:

Grease and flour 2 - 8 inch or 9 inch round layer cake pans. Beat the egg
whites until stiff. set aside. In a bowl, mix the egg yolks, butter and sugar together. Beat at medium speed for about 2 minutes. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder together.
Add to the other ingredients, alternately with the milk. Mix well, then beat
hard for 2 more minutes. Fold in the beaten egg whites. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until the cakes spring back when touched lightly in the center.

Helpful Hints:

This cake is especially good when covered with a vanilla frosting.
