How To Disable The Sidewalk Feature In Your Alexa App

Side walk is a new feature that Amazon is introducing. It is intended to extend the range of your Wi-fi. This is needed to allow new outdoor devices such as the mail box alert and pet finder to communicate with your existing Alexa devices.

However, if you don't have any of these and don't plan to get any Sidewalk can be a security issue. This is true because it allows your neighbors as well as others to use your network. For security reasons you probably want to disable this feature, unless you have, or plan to get the devices mentioned. Follow the steps below to disable Sidewalk. These instructions are written for the IPhone.

1. Open the Alexa App.

2. Place your finger in the bottom right corner and slide it around until you hear more, then double tap.

3. Place your finger in the upper right hand of the screen. Slide it down until you hear See More and then double tap.

4. Place your finger again in the upper right hand of the screen. Slide down until you hear settings and then double tap.

5. Touch the top of the screen to return there and then swipe right to Account Settings and then double tap.

6. Return to the top of the screen and swipe right until you hear Amazon Sidewalk and then double tap.

7. Swipe right until you hear either Enabled or Disabled. If you hear enabled double tap to change it. This is a toggle and simply switches between the two.

That's it, now just close the App and you're finished.
